Hi everyone,

I would like to share the IOS release of Journal, a personal organization app I have been working on. I like to think of it as a personal database.

I drew inspiration from traditional file systems which let you store and organize arbitrary data using files and folders. In Journal, instead of files, you store items which could be tasks & events (including recurring ones), notes, links or photos and we plan to expand support for even more data types and file formats in the future.

Organization is built around sections—a hybrid between folders and tags. Your items can belong to multiple sections and sections can be nested. It’s a nice experience having a single, flexible way to categorize data. It removes the constant mental debate: Should I use tags or folders? Should this go in A or B? Instead, you can organize things in a way that feels natural without overthinking it.

The app also includes built-in “mini-apps” like a calendar, diary, gallery and productivity dashboard. One experimental feature also introduced is called Momentum, it’s like apple rings but for productivity.

You can try it out on App Store: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/makerlab-journal/id6739819051

PS: It's offline first but does require an account so we can sync your data.

Would love to hear your feedback!
