Significant synergy as SoftBank is a major telco in Japan, and Ampere has been investing heavily into telco usecases like OpenRAN.

SoftBank is basically trying to own the entire RAN modernization stack - which is becoming a big part of what will become 6G.

Interesting times.

    Or that SoftBank owns Arm... and has very publicly said it wants to get into the full chip business, not just reference architecture.

      That most likely playec a role as well, but SoftBank has been very open about their backing for O-RAN and building the standards for 6G since 2021.

Probably better than Oracle buying them. I presume SoftBank will keep selling to anybody whereas Oracle would have kept for themselves.
